Parental controls & safety

Random Mix is safe by design before any setting is touched: it runs fully offline with no chat, no content from strangers, no ads, no accounts, no analytics and no in-app purchases. On top of that, three controls let you shape the game for a young player.

Hide genres (Settings → GAME → MANAGE GENRES)

Tap any genre to hide or show it. Hidden genres disappear from the menu, and SURPRISE ME never picks them. Some genre names in the catalog (like DEATH METAL or TERRORCORE) may not fit every household, and this is the switch for that. At least one genre must stay visible. Changes apply immediately.

Hide dancers (Settings → GAME → MANAGE DANCERS)

The same idea for the dancer characters: hidden dancers leave the picker. At least one stays visible.

The 4-digit PIN

Both panels share one optional parental PIN. Press LOCK in either panel to set it (enter it twice). Once set, the panels open read-only, and any change asks for the PIN first; a wrong entry shakes the panel and asks again. Press LOCK again with the PIN to remove it.

Two honest notes. First, the PIN is a child-friendly content gate, not real security; a determined teenager with the device is not the threat model it addresses. Second, Settings → GAME → RESET PROGRESS wipes the whole profile including the PIN and the hidden lists, so treat device-level parental controls as the stronger fence if you need one.

Dancer lock (Settings → ACCESS)

A separate, quicker control: turning DANCER LOCK on hides the dancer everywhere, including the menu, and keeps the dancer studio unreachable. Turning it off is deliberately child-resistant: five taps within a rolling three-second window, and even then the dancer stays hidden until you flip HIDE DANCER yourself.

The structural facts

No network play, no chat, no user content from strangers. Music only ever moves between people when someone deliberately shares a text code or a file.
No ads, no analytics, no accounts, no tracking. The privacy policy is one screen because there is nothing to collect.
No in-app purchases. The only transaction is buying the full game in a store. Coins are earned by playing, spent only on cosmetic looks, and cannot be bought with money.
Screen time is in your hands: the game has no daily-reward pressure beyond an optional daily challenge, and it plays fully offline, so it works with any device-level screen-time tool.
